Solastalgia Riparia

Short film in 16mm and video, and a series of 10 inkjet prints, Grand-Métis and Rimouski, Quebec, Canada, 2024

This 8-min-48s. short film features 16mm footage shot in the historic garden of the Reford Gardens, in Grand-Métis; in a former sandpit in the Gaspésie village of Price, home to a colony of Bank Swallows (Riparia riparia) that the Reford Gardens hopes to preserve; at Rocher Blanc in Rimouski, in the company of members of the Rimouski Bird Observatory; and in the Blacker-Wood Collections at McGill University in Montreal. This is where the works of John James Audubon (1827), John and Elizabeth Gould (1837) and Francis Willughby (1678) were documented.

The short film was produced as part of the project Faux-plis par hypothèses, curated by Louise Déry (Galerie de l'UQAM) and Marie-Hélène Leblanc (Galerie UQO), Quebec, Canada, 2024.
